A lecture by Matthew Richardson - Official Site

A very friendly illustrator who looks similar to Seth Rogen, just saying.

Just like how Mr. Mike described his work, he is indeed a great artist. All the work he showed us ranging from the media he uses to process and then to concept are really captivating and interesting. He had done quite a lot of commissions for Penguin Books, Music Magazine, Sunday Times, V&A Museum, Harpers Magazine, Channel 4, Vodaphone, etc.

He usually capture lots of images that catch his eyes and place them in his work, composite them to assembly a meaning he wants to express.

He showed us a trailer of a book named The Meowmorphosis which cover was illustrated by him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5VVFf4vmgY I didn’t quite understand the concept behind but the trailer woke me up from my hunger, the typeface appearing everywhere made the atmosphere of the book intensive, I really want to know what the book is about now…

It also sparkled my interest when he talked about the difference between seeing an image from a distance and seeing an image that has been seen before (such as a book cover) which creates a intimate relationship with the viewer while displaying one of his work for Vodaphone ads:

He was also mentioning about V&A Museum asking him to create works for their ads, and said that he got access to all the collections from V&A, then he used the images to create a piece of art work that describes what V&A is advertising. And the results are beautiful.

I am really eager to research further on his manner of work and how he create images, how he explores the relationship of an object to another, and so on.
